Motorbike Crash Statistics
UK statistics for Moped crashes compared to Car/Motorbike crashes?
I am doing an english report, trying to convince that Mopeds aren’t dangerous to under 17 year olds, in comparison to over 17s driving a car or riding a motorbike.
It’s of particular interest to me as I’m 16 in November, and need to convince my mum also.
The only useful statistics I could find was a report from Kansad department of http://www.ksdot.org/burTransPlan/prodinfo/2008factsbook/Motorcycle.pdf
But if you could find a similar load of statistics from the UK, somewhere such as London or Leeds, it would be a great help.
This is all that I could find but its just the opposite of what you are looking for…………
16 is the most dangerous age to ride a moped – IAM report….
The latest IAM Motoring Trust research shows that 16 is the most dangerous age to ride a moped, and it is boys who are mainly at risk. The IAM asked road safety researcher Jean Hopkin to look at the official statistics, and her analysis shows clearly where, when and why 16-year-old boys are at such high risk on a moped.
The study is an analysis by road safety researcher, Jean Hopkin, of almost 3,500 teenage moped riders who were killed or seriously injured over the seven years between 2000 and 2006. Almost 2,000 of them were 16-year-olds, and the study found that it is mainly 16-year-old boys who are at risk……..
